Located next to the train station, the building from which La Bergerie operates was built at the beginning of the century by the Schuller family, who had come from Tutingen in Germany to set up the Schuller brasserie here in 1909. Matilde turned it into La Taverne alsacienne and ran the house for over 40 years. In 1996, La Taverne alsacienne was beautifully transformed into a welcoming venue resembling an Alpine farm in the town centre of Chamonix and became La Bergerie. Bought by brothers Paul and René Duverger in August 2000, La Bergerie is well-known for the warm welcome it extends its guests, as well as its traditional cuisine. Today, Paul Duverger and Christophe Chambost, the restaurant’s young chef, have made it one of the best restaurants in the area in terms of tasty and traditional cuisine.
